so are month together is over and although me and sweet lady blog have had our differences it's been a good time overall. i would say this experience has changed me but frankly it has done nothing other than provide something to do in the short minutes before midnight everyday, huzzah! for procrastination. i will continue to post often, upon the insistance of several readers, it may not be everyday but you can expect a little something atleast every week. let the titillation begin.

being over the hump is starting to get to me. even in my best efforts to avoid cliches, its true, your body starts to fall apart over time. my shoulder has been acting up for the past week or so and now my neck has decided to throw in the towel. it could of course be worse, i don't want to tempt fate and venture a guess at how it would be worse. i can simply say it could be. at this point a trip to the doctor's in the morrow seems unavoidable. here's hoping my body's brakes don't fail on the way. but in light of recent failures i wouldn't count on it.

today has been a very blah day. i would rate myself as slightly above a vegetable on the "living" scale. who could blame me though. tending to the girlfriend took its toll. it was late to bed and early to rise for me and lots of chicken noodle soup for her. so you can see how i would be slightly tired currently, what with the slaving over noodled-poultry concoctions by day and a tending to the sick by night. it's time to recharge the batteries!

ace got a collar on sunday and the adjustment has been interesting to say the least. within minutes of first having it on he somehow got it stuck in his mouth. and all jockeying aside, thats joking if you're a jockey, it has been abit scary watching ace manage to choke himself on something as simple as a collar. i know he is still just a kitten but come on. i guess he will have to be watched like a hawk for the next couple of days, as opposed to the feline he should be.

so, i attended the remembrance day ceremony in victory square today and i must say how surprised i was by the large number of people who clapped during the ceremony. i was always under the assumption that you were supposed to refrain from clapping during the ceremony. not that im opposed to clapping for afghanistan veterans i just thought they reserved this sort of thing for after the ceremony. hmmm, have the times changed?

with the most recent upgrades to the macbook pro, the core duo now has a "2" in it, i'm starting to get the itch to buy new lappy. there is the obvious speed increase, 4x i might add, and the graphics card; but more importantly i just have an itch that only a shiny new laptop can scratch. the 1500 trade-in for my current laptop doesn't hurt either.

so today i was absent mindely surfing the intarweb when i heard something distrubing on the teevee. it seems that some areas of the lower mainland are already surpassing precipitation records for the month of november. thats just dandy, november is only six days young. and the weather gods appear to have more in store for us in the next 24 days as well. i suppose the part that makes the most mad is that my favourite season is over. damn what the calendar says, fall is mid september to november 1st. and so with my favourite season gone i have nothing to do, season wise, but wait 10 months for the good times to be back again. there is the small consolation however, that my second favourite season, early spring is only four months away. so there's hoping wiarton willie sees no shadow come febuary 14th.

in a little over a week i'll be helping out at acf. for those of you who don't know about the event; more info can be found here. in short its a giant year end party at ubc. the organizers call it "an experiment in crowd control." with lots of beer and booze anything can happen. if matt goods blog was still around (what happened to it anyway?) i would throw a link out there about what happened last year. anyways to get to my point i'll be volunteering at acf again this year. and before i get a flood of comments about why, myself, an sfu student would work at a ubc event; hey its for a good cause. good music, good people, good cause ...and a hell of a lot of drunk ubc students. that's what keeps me coming back.

i must say i'm rather happy with the way things are going as of late. the ~~christmas~~ politically correct ~~holiday~~ season is behind us and everything seems to be returning, more or less, to normal. i do apologize for my absence from the blogging realm as of late (at least the posting portion anyways) and the past four months for that matter. life has thrown me some great gift(s) and i have spent a lot of time enjoying said gift(s) company. it has been nice gaining several new and close friends as well as diving head first into the relationship pool. which as they say in all those chick flicks "sneak up on u when u least expect it." i was happy for the surprise. going into this post i never expected that i would be wrapping up my semester, year, and moreover my life. but as i've said before: i'm happy for the surprise.

but i'm not gonna get it. waysafe in its infinite wisdom decided to pull me in for night crew tonite, even though i got off work at 6:30. no big though, i've pulled longer hauls than the 22 hours i'll have tallied by 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. still i'm less than impressed. it seems that i have moved away from my glory days on nights. (complete with bragging rights for 48 hours up) i don't know, as much as i wish i was still like that; in a more resounding way i'm glad that i no longer have to stay up until 3 a.m. to feel tired enough for sleep. midnight snuggled up with erin is just fine for me.

its a phrase that i find myself repeating often in my life. the title of the hemingway book always seems to centre me no matter what is going on. i dont know what it is but the idea, as simple as it is, that tomorrow's another day always seems to make me happy. no matter how bad this day has been. thats not to say that today went horribly, far from it, i just thought i would share. work is going well, although this is sort of surprising due to managements ability to get under ej's skin. this hasn't happened yet and none could be happier than i. of course i could be happier if my baby was here with me but that's another story. although while we're on the topic it does seem that i'll be getting a kiss from her on new years. huzzah!

ok. so me and kevin have been talking about this for a while. he wants to get into bloggin more but has pretty much given up on the umbrella tree. (i'll cite his last post) anyway it works out perfectly cuz i've been wanting to add a bit of political discussion to the old girl and he's full of good ol' liberal (viewpoint not party) ideas to spark your/my imagination. i promise they wont involve hurting small children.

Stephan Harper is a quitter

Just reading some bios on our potential new P.M (after the presumably immanent snap election) and have come to the startling realization that he’s a blatant and chronic quitter.

Example 1: He quit on his marriage. After years of bliss he and his wife decided to split up after personal and ideological differences occurred.

Example 2: He quit on his teacher, mentor and friend (Jim Hawkes). After Hawkes taught Harper the ropes in politics and treated him as a close friend by inviting him to family functions, he ran against him on a fringe platform in 1988. Not surprisingly Harper and his entire party was trampled on during that election year.

Example 3: In 1993 Harper won a seat in parliament. Before his tenure was complete, he not only quit from his party, but also quit from his position as a member of parliament… Effectively abandoning the thousands of constituents who voted him in.

Example 4: He joined the National Citizens Coalition (a right wing lobbying group), quickly climbed to the top of the ladder, and subsequently quit before he could lead his spearheaded effort to exonerate third party spending limits in Canadian elections.

Example 5: He quit on Canadian ideals. We believe in equality and peace for all. Harper on the other hand has generated initiatives to erect an unequal health care system (2 tier) and sent out letters to American newspapers apologizing on behalf of Canadians for not joining the now proven fraudulent War in Iraq.

Example 6: He has quit on Canadian unity. He believes that there is “no unity with Quebec” and generally tends to be an alienated westerner who blames his provinces (Alberta’s) problems on the East. He even created policy recommendations which would separate Alberta from the rest of the country and be completely independent from Canada for health care, education, and taxes. Not the attitude you’d want from a national leader.

so me, pat, el, and t. dot went to see steve carrell's new masterpiece 40 year old virgin. its funny i don't think there was a person over 20 in the whole theatre. also i don't think i have ever seen a group of people laughin so hard at a movie. it was pretty effin hilarious. it was like being part of a laugh track to a seventies comedy. yes thats right people were actually clapping. i liked it. i liked it alot. more review to follow.
